Zak Monday was the anti-matter version of Zak Saturday, an evil counterpart from the shadow world on the other side of the Aztec Smoke Mirror. His first appearance was in Black Monday.

Appearance[]

Zak was leanly built and average height and weight for his age. He had a shock of black hair and dark brown skin from his African-American father, but Caucasian features and white-blonde hair from his mother.

His clothing consisted of yellow sweatpants, an orange shirt with an "S" on the front (which resembled a distorted silhouette of The Fang), and a black undershirt.

Personality[]

Being the anti-version of Zak Saturday, Zak Monday was as different from him as possible. Zak was incredibly sadistic, beyond the need to physically torture people. As he demonstrated in Black Monday, Zak knew how to get to what would hurt people the most. Rather than torture Zak Saturday directly, Zak Monday chose to torture the members of his family instead, forcing Zak to watch and beg him to stop. This amused Zak Monday greatly.

He was very petty and vengeful. Even when Zak and Komodo Monday were in the matter world without the Saturdays knowing, giving them full control of their lives without fear of being put back, Zak Monday chose to make his opposites' life miserable for his own enjoyment.

Zak Monday showed many traits similar to that of a textbook sociopath: lack of empathy, difficulty forming meaningful relationships, manipulating others for his own entertainment, being openly violent/aggressive, lacking responsibility, being impulsive, engaging in risky behavior for instant gratification, etc.

Biography[]

Season One[]

Along with the rest of his family, Zak Monday crawled out of the Smoke Mirror of Tezcatlipoca when Zak Saturday made the mistake of touching it. Unlike the rest of his family, who took up undercover positions as the Saturday family to trick Zak S. and Drew S., Zak Monday was left on the sidelines. Presumably, he was given the job of watching the real Saturday family to make sure that they didn't escape.

Regardless of what he was doing, Zak Monday grew bored with being left out of the action. Against Drew M.'s plan, Zak snuck onto the Saturday airship and got close enough while Zak Saturday was sleeping to wake him up when his bed turned to water. After, Zak M. and Zak S. fought. Even though Zak S. won their fight, Zak M. didn't seem disappointed by the loss, quickly getting back up to taunt Zak S. for being an idiot and trusting "his" mom. It's possible that the entire fight was nothing but a way for Zak Monday to entertain himself — firstly, by ruining his mom's plan, and secondly, by getting to fight someone. Regardless, he planted doubt in Zak S.'s head about Drew's true identity just in time for him to be shot by a Cortex Disruptor and knocked out.

Zak Monday wasn't seen until later, where he ambushed Zak S. and Drew S. along with the rest of the Monday family. Taking them by surprise, it was easy to capture them and tie all of them up, with the plan being to force the Saturdays through the Smoke Mirror and take their place.

Before that could happen, Zak M. took revenge on Zak S. for defeating him in their fight earlier. To do this, Zak Monday removed Zak Saturday's gag and used the Fang to influence Zon, Komodo, and Fisk. His powers put them into agony, which Zak Monday forced Zak Saturday to watch, taunting him for his helplessness.

A moment of distraction allowed Zak Saturday to escape, freeing his parents as well. Zak Monday stayed out of the ensuing fight, although he took the first opportunity to grab the Smoke Mirror when it fell to the wayside. He turned on Drew Monday when she took the Mirror from him, accusing her of planning to betray them all.

Their argument dissolved into a fight between the entire Monday family for possession of the Smoke Mirror. In the end, Zak Monday turned on his family and attempted to send them all back into the Shadow World, but was absorbed himself. After, the Smoke Mirror fell to the ground and was shattered.

The Saturdays left the mirror shards and left Mexico. However, before they got too far away, Zak used his Fang to grapple onto something just outside of the Mirror and used it to pull both himself and Komodo Monday out of the Mirror. Komodo called Zak his "loyal servant," and the pair took off together to cause mayhem in a brand new world.

What Zak and Komodo Monday did with their free time is unknown, but at least part of it was spent preparing for their revenge on the Saturday family.

In the episode Paris is Melting, Zak and Komodo Monday first get Zak Saturday's attention by using Fiskerton Saturday as a pawn. Using his powers, Zak Monday controlled Fisk, forcing him to attack several Secret Scientists who were stationed close to the Saturday's HQ. When the Secret Scientists came to arrest Fiskerton, Zak Saturday had Komodo Saturday cause a distraction, so that Zak and his adopted siblings could escape in the Griffon. Once they were away, Zak M. texted them with a phone he had planted in Fisk's fur, telling Zak S. that the answers were in Paris, at the Louver Museum.

Once at the Louver Museum, Zak and Komodo Monday ambushed the Saturdays By controlling Fisk, Komodo, and Zon Saturday, Zak M. was able to subdue Zak S. and capture all of them, tying them with rope.

Upon Zak S.'s questioning, Komodo M. explained that the museum had recovered and restored the Smoke Mirror. Their plan was to bring their airship back from the Shadow World. It ran on pure anti-matter, enough that it would corrupt the world wherever they flew. Zak M. explained that all he wanted to do was ruin the Saturdays' lives (Zak's, specifically). The plan, therefore, was to force Zak S. to go to the Shadow World and get their airship for them. Zak agreed to get their airship, for the chance to save his siblings from being hurt and on the slim chance of sabotaging the Mondays.

While leaving Zak S. to the Shadow World, Zak M. used his powers to control Fisk, Komodo, and Zon S. With them under his influence, they took to terrorizing Paris. Zak was having fun destroying things and terrifying people, calling the cryptids his "toys," but was interrupted when the Saturday airship arrived. Drew S. and Doyle neutralized Fisk, Komodo, and Zon using the lowest setting on the Cortex Disruptors. While they served as a distraction, Doc S. grabbed Zak from behind, causing him to drop the Fang and lose his connection.

The Saturdays questioned Zak M. as to where their Zak was, to which he sarcastically called Doc "daddy" and refused to answer. They were interrupted by the Secret Scientists, who didn't believe that Zak M. was an evil double. They instead found it more likely that Zak S. had simply used hair dye. They were enough of a distraction for Zak M. to break out of Doc's hold and make a run for it, grabbing the Fang as he left. He ran for the Louver Museum just in time for it to break, shattering completely as the Monday airship flew through the Smoke Mirror.

Although Zak S. brought their airship, as promised, he drained the battery cells beforehand (correctly assuming that the Monday airship runs on darkness, since the Saturday airship is powered by sunlight). The airship sputters and falls out of the sky, crashing back into the Smoke Mirror.

On the other side, Zak and Komodo M. crawl out of their crashed airship and are greeted by their furious family. Between the look on Drew M.'s face and the way that she, Doc, and Fiskerton are seen beating up Komodo later, it's safe to assume that Zak M. was punished severely and violently.

Season Two[]

Zak Monday and Zak Saturday didn't see each other for two years, both of them aging from eleven to thirteen. Sometime beforehand, V.V. Argost broke into the Louver Museum and stole the Smoke Mirror. Using it, he contacted Zak Monday and made some sort of deal with him, where Zak M. was promised revenge on Zak S.

His final appearance was in And Your Enemies Closer. Once released from the Smoke Mirror, Zak Monday immediately attacked Zak Saturday, who was bound and unable to stop him. Despite Zak S.'s warning that Argost was going to attempt to steal his powers, Zak M. continued because he thought it was crazy.

Sure enough, Argost ordered Munya to bind Zak M. and confirmed that Zak S. was telling the truth. Using the Flute of Gilgamesh and Devonian Annelids, Argost "rather painfully" extracted Zak Monday's powers while he screamed and struggled, sapping Zak M. of his life force and killing him in the process.

Zak Monday's lifeless body then laid on the ground as Argost took his Fang before destroying both the Smoke Mirror and the Flute.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that because the positive matter Kur was evil, and positive Zak good, negative Kur might have been good, given that negative Zak was evil.
  • It seems his first name may not even be Zak, as in Paris is Melting, he told the Saturday cryptids "I've got to get back to the Mirror so your loser Saturday Zak can bring us our airship." And he said Zak Saturday's name with contempt, as if it is not his own name.
